Since the summer of 2008, Mexican artist Javier Marin has been touring Europe like a 'rock star.' Beginning in Pietrasanta, Italy, Milan, Luxembourg, Belgium and now Holland, Marin will soon unveil a major public work at the Vancouver 2009-2011 Biennale launching Mexico's 200th Anniversary of being independant.

"Cancer gave me my life back", said Barrie Mowatt at a recent fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training and ride for Cancer event held at the Buschlen Mowatt Gallery. Cancer taught me gratitude, how to say ‘no’, to be open, up front and honest with my emotions and to embrace every moment. "I've never felt more alive than when I'm on my bike riding with my team mates, each of us doing so for a loved one affected by cancer.

On Tuesday, February 24, Arts Umbrella stepped back in time for a 1979 Flashback transforming studios at the non-profit, visual and performing arts centre, into an elegant, disco-inspired bash for donors. Celebrating Arts Umbrella's 30th Anniversary, this creative and memorable evening thanked donors for their continued support in allowing this institution to "inspire kids for life through the arts."
