Buschlen Mowatt Gallery will launch its 30th anniversary celebrations with the works of Canadian National living treasure Sorel Etrog. The Painted Links exhibition presents a rare collection of Etrog’s paintings created between 1963 and 1971. This exhibition brings together work that has never been shown in its entirety, and offers a unique perspective on Etrog’s iconic aesthetic. The paintings express Etrog’s fascination with the possibilities of colour and movement, and his search for new ways to represent the structure of the human body.Etrog is Canada’s most celebrated and internationally collected artist. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Musee d’Arte Moderne, Paris; the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; Museo Internazionale d’Arte Contemporano, Florence; Tate Gallery, London; and the Hakone Museum, Japan et al.
