Beautifully tragic, each of Javier Marín's sculptures evoke a sense of directness as herecalls the brutality that once ravaged the people of his native Mexico. Using bronze, plaster, resin and specific techniques such as scratching and drilling, Marín leaves evidence of process: a method which has become identifiably "Marín".
Javier Marín represented Mexico in the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, the mostprestigious art event in the world, and has exhibited widely with over 100 solo andgroup exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide, most recently at the Guggenheim Bilbao, Spain.
