Nicolas Africano
(American, b. 1948)

Highly sought after and collected, Nicolas Africano's cast glass figures and oil paintings possess fineness, fragility and a delicate sense of beauty. Africano's cast glass sculptures are reminiscent of classical sculpture with the purity of glass resembling the smooth stone of polished marble. It is the artist's muse and wife Rebecca, whose image is rendered in each one of a kind piece. Africano’s work can be found in many important collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
